"Designer Coffees" Adding to your Bottom Line??

Plain coffee has virtually no calories and is often used for that morning  or pre workout energy boost. Most experts agree that a cup or two of coffee is safe for most people. Here are a few shockers that may be keeping you from reaching your weight loss goals. Depending on the type of milk and other ingredients a large latte can range from 250 to over 500 calories. Remember, if you eat 100 calories a day more than you burn, you will gain 10 pounds a year! Most food plans call for 500 calories/day less than maintenance to burn 1-2 pounds of fat per week and you can blow that with just one fancy little cup of coffee!!! Being these numbers you will be able to, if you care to count them into your food plan. The key, here  is to be aware. Here are the numbers in a few categories from worst to best. All calories are quoted on small sizes.

Add ons

  • 2 tablespoons of flavored nondairy creamer (liquid)  80 calories (1Fat, 1/2 Bread)
  • One tablespoon of cream adds 50 calories (1 Fat)
  • One tablespoon of liquid plain nondairy creamer has 25 calories (.5 fat)
  • One tablespoon of half-and-half has 20 calories (.5 fat)

Cappuccino (espresso, steamed milk, foamed milk) 

  •  137 calories w/ whole milk 
  •  109 calories with low-fat milk
  •  80 calories with fat-free milk 

Coffee latte (espresso and steamed milk) 

  • 212 calories w/  whole milk 
  • 167 calories with low-fat milk
  • 123 calories  with fat-free milk.

Coffee mocha  (espresso, cocoa, steamed milk)

  • 182 calories w/ fat free milk
  • 220 calories with low-fat milk 
  • 260 calories with whole milk
