Appetite For... Weight loss?? |
||||
Finally, we can debunk the "Thin people can eat whatever they want" myth. A new study shows the thin aren't blessed or lucky but have a low level of "disinhibition." This means they eat only when they are hungry and stop when they are not. (duh!!!) Director of the Energy Metabolism Laboratory at Tufts University, Susan B. Roberts, PhD believes that disinhibition is the "strongest predictor of whether a person will be over weight". Howard Eisenson, MD, director of Duke University Diet and fitness Center has found that restrained eating is a key to weight loss. To determine their levels of disinhibition, Roberts had 600 women respond to a series of true or false questions suck as "I find it very hard to keep from eating a sizzling steak, even if I have just finished a meal." She found that women with less disinhibition also had lower body mass indexes. Roberts says that there is no fixed solution for the highly disinhibited, but avoiding refined foods - which can cause blood sugar to soar then plummet, thus bringing on hunger pangs - may help. To take this one step further, Custom Bodies has designed a weight management program which is used in conjunction with the fitness components of their exercise programs. Clients are pick one or two an unhealthy habits each week to work on as they work on their fitness programs. If your lifestyle includes plenty of healthy habits, a healthy weight is sure to follow. |
