My Big Fat Obnoxious Diet

By Julia Havey

My Big Fat Obnoxious Diet -- wouldn't that be a great reality TV show? Would you tune in to see a successful weight loss story or one of a person who constantly struggles? Which would be more entertaining, which would be more inspiring?  What sets a successful attempt apart from an unsuccessful one?

The answer may seem very easy, obviously one succeeded and the other did not. But that answer does nothing about answering WHY, and to me WHY is what sets one apart from the other!

Let's examine this in the context of a "diet". What sets a successful diet attempt apart from an unsuccessful one? That the successful person lost weight where the other one didn't?
Not necessarily. We all love to read success stories about people who overcame great obstacles, but what about the stories of the people who tried or are still trying to overcome their obstacles? Are their stories any less interesting or compelling? Just because someone hasn't yet reached their goal weight, aren't they still a success by simply continuing to try?

Not every "dieter" is at their desired goal weight, so why then would I think of that person as a success? They haven't given up! They have not thrown in the towel and quit, resigning themselves to a life of unhealthy actions, overeating and declining health. They are still in the dieting trenches and making progress each day. While they may not have realized their goal weight (yet!), they have realized something even more necessary to success on this journey... they found themselves!

  1. KNOWING who you are,
  2. Why you want to succeed in this journey and
  3. What your purpose is, well, THOSE things are far more important in the long run and are in fact the stuff that fuels weight loss and gets one to the finish line.
I am so proud of the amazing people who continue to venture down the path of self-improvement through self-motivation, doing what it takes to keep going in their quest to become a successful loser. Do you want to be a successful loser? I know I do!

It takes getting to know who you are. What you are all about. Why you want to lose weight and how it is going to change your life. It takes planning!

And finally, what really sets a successful diet attempt apart from an unsuccessful one; ONE more attempt!
Take a leap of faith and start that final attempt TODAY!

  1. Renew your commitment to yourself;
  2. Renew your vow to improve your life. Are you going to be perfect, I don't think so. No one is -- if they say they are, be suspicious! There are times we all stumble, we all get off track... but a successful loser gets right back on track!
  3. Pick A 30 day make or break a habit for a 30 day challenge
  4. Do you have actual goals ? Are they posted on the goals board or are you just "dieting" , tying to be "good" ?
Get right back on track today, right NOW! Know that you have what it takes to be...a successful... LOSER! I know you can do it!
